MAKE-UP EXAMS:

Please note that, no make-up exams will be given.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY:

It is expected that students work independently on exams and assignments. According to the USF Academic Dishonesty Policy: "Punishments for academic dishonesty will depend on the seriousness of the offense and may include receipt of an "F" or "Zero" on the subject paper, lab report, etc., an "F" in the course, suspension or expulsion from the University. The University drop and forgiveness policies shall be revoked for a student accused of academic dishonesty. The internal transcript of a student who is awarded an "F" for academic dishonesty will read "FF." Notice that a student has been dismissed for reasons of academic dishonesty may be reflected on the student's transcript." For more information on the USF Academic Dishonesty Policy, refer to the Undergraduate Catalog.

INCOMPLETES:

Incomplete grades (I) are awarded only if the criteria in the USF catalog are met. USF policy: 00-01 Catalog p. 41. " An "I" grade indicates incomplete coursework and may be awarded to an undergraduate student only when a small portion of the student's work is incomplete and only when the student is otherwise earning a passing grade."

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES :

If you are a student who has special needs because of any disability, please see the staff in the office or the Dean of Students, to self disclose and provide supporting documentation. Please feel free to discuss the issue with me in private .

Students who wish extended time on exams need to inform the Office 7 school days (M-F) in advance of scheduled exam so the center has adequate time to inform me. For example, if the exam is scheduled on a Tuesday I need to be officially informed by the center on the Tuesday, a week prior to the exam .

MINIMUM RECOMMENDED STUDY REQUIREMENTS :

This course is a CUMULATIVE learning experience, therefore, it is important that you:

•  Dedicate a minimum of four plus hours of study to the lecture course per week.

•  Preview material to be covered in class by reading ahead in the book.

•  Come to class and take a good set of notes on what is covered in class.

•  Be prepared to be an active participant in class discussions and ask questions during class.

•  Immediately after class, review lecture notes, assigned reading, and work suggested chapter questions and problems. Stay on top of material; do not fall behind in your studying.

•  Please seek help as soon as possible if you are having difficulty because this course will be taught at a rapid pace and many principles rely on mastery of previous material.

•  Sometimes it is helpful to find a study partner or form a study group to meet on a regular basis, work problems, and help each other.

BlackBoard Online Quizzes Instructions

•  Check the BB announcements and schedule for quizzes

•  Use an updated version of Internet Explorer as the browser when working with the Blackboard quizzes must be current.

•  Go to the myUSF web page and login and Click on the Courses tab at the top.

•  Go to your CHM 2045 BB section page.

•  An announcement will be posted when the quiz is available on BB, then go to the Quizzes tab and select the quiz.

•  Once you open the quiz you must take it within the hour time limit set or the quiz will be graded and recorded.

•  After it has been graded you may take the quiz again for a higher grade

•  Student Honor System applies to the quizzes. Students may use their text, lecture material, and web sources; however no human contact of any kind (verbal, non-verbal, e-mail) may be used.

•  Use the mouse to click once in your choice for an answer. (avoid double clicks)

•  When you are sure of your answers click once to submit your answers

•  You will be asked are you sure, click OK once .

•  Be sure to save your answers

•  Your quiz will be graded and you will receive your score. Scroll down and click on OK once.

•  Check to see if your grade has been posted . If the quiz is in a multiple choice format your grade should appear within minutes to 24 hours if submitted properly.

•  Your grade will automatically be entered in the grade book except portions that may need to be hand graded.

•  If you see a lock upon checking for a grade then you may have submitted the quiz incorrectly.

•  If the quiz is not all in multiple choice format then the student must answer-solve the problems by typing in a high order response or if math based show answers with work, units, and significant figures.

•  If you see an explanation point upon checking for a grade then the quiz needs to be graded. Check back 12-24 waking hours later.

•  If portions must be hand graded then check back daily during normal work week hours. Expect a 12 hour minimum (waking hours) turn around on the hand grading of non multiple choice quizzes.

•  Notify your instructor if there is no grade or you lock yourself out . Expect at least a 12-24 normal working hour turn around on the response as your instructor does not monitor the system 24 hours a day.

•  Waiting until the last 24 waking hours (last 3 days) before the quiz expires is not to your advantage. Take the quiz early.

•  There is no limit on how many times you may take the quiz however ; you must take the quiz by the expiration date (posts for one week even during holiday weeks).

•  The ten quizzes are worth 20 - 50 pts each. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped

•  Each quiz will be available for approximately 1 week every week as per scheduled BB announcement and class schedule.

•  For instance if a quiz is available at 8:00 am on Sunday the quiz will post for a week and will be available until the following Sunday until ~7:00 am

•  No make-ups or extensions allowed except at the discretion of the instructor

•  Answers will be made available after the quiz expires
